Hello, Bayard Rustin Elementary Community!

I hope that summer has been both enriching and relaxing for your family. Our inaugural year of 2018-19 as a school was a great success with lots of enthusiasm, participation and many wonderful opportunities for students, staff and families to get to know each other. The start of school is just around the corner and the BRES PTA is glad to welcome returning and new students to the Bayard Rustin Elementary School (BRES) community. The PTA's mission is to “make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.”

Every year, the PTA helps fulfill the needs of our wonderful school. Our job is to provide BRES with funds, programs, and resources to enrich the educational experience of every child. We must all work together to ensure the best for our children. We anticipate our community coming together and supporting our great school as the PTA sponsors programs and events.  Here’s what you can do to support the PTA and your school:

  • BE A MEMBER: Membership dues are $20 per individual per year or $40 per family per year. The dues are used to support PTA-sponsored events and enhance resources for our students and staff.

  • VOLUNTEER, VOLUNTEER, VOLUNTEER: The PTA is nothing without volunteers and we appreciate you all!! There are many opportunities to find something that interests you.

  • ATTEND PTA MEETINGS & EVENTS: Participate! A preliminary BRES calendar will be coming home with this mailing. Here’s what is happening soon:

    • Friday, September 6th: Back to School Picnic

    • Tuesday, October 1st: 1st PTA meeting of the school year

In order to better serve the BRES community, the PTA has updated our website at brespta.org. Check out the more user friendly options and ways to get information for busy parents/guardians.

During the school year, be sure to check out our website and Facebook page (search for “Bayard Rustin Elementary School PTA”) where we will post about school activities, events, dine-outs, and e-newsletters! Feel free to share your thoughts/questions/concerns with your 2019-20 PTA Board of Directors (information available on the website).

I am looking forward to a fox-tab-u-lous year! Please mark your calendars for our first PTA meeting on October 1st, 6:30-8:00PM

Sincerely,

Trang Duong

PTA President, 2019-2020
