We are so excited to GO FOR THE GOLD on April 18 during the school day! The entire school will participate in our biggest fundraiser of the year. Every student is invited to go for the gold by running or skipping to energizing music, while navigating kid-friendly obstacles, with their grade. Each runner will participate in a dance party warm-up and receive water and a treat at the end. All funds raised go to support students, families, teachers, and staff with supplies, equipment, social events, educational programming, and training that helps make BRES the BEST! Parents are asked to share our website and their student(s) profile with friends & family that also see the benefits of our vibrant BRES PTA and School Community.
This event is a crowd sourced donation based fundraiser and prizes will be award to those that bring in a certain tier of earnings. Donations will be accepted until April 25. Even students that do not register or raise funds WILL participate in the event.

Families are encouraged to come and cheer on our students! Schedule for when different grades will run is as follows:
First Grade -- 9:40am-10:10am
Kindergarten -- 10:20am-10:50am
Second Grade -- 11:00am-11:30am
Third Grade -- 11:30am-12:00pm
Fifth Grade -- 12:00pm-12:30pm
Fourth Grade -- 12:30pm-1:00pm

Get ready for a blast of science as the Bayard Rustin Elementary School (BRES) STEAM Fair returns on Saturday, April 6! We have partnered with local scientists and STEM organizations to provide interactive and educational demonstrations.
We also invite students to share their own projects with us by entering our Science Fair or displaying a STEAM project at our expo. Both of these projects are fun, engaging, and noncompetitive ways for our growing learners to explore the world around them.

Help us show the BRES Staff our Appreciation by providing them with a "March Madness" Lunch! Sign-up to contribute homemade or store bought food items, supplies, decorations, or drinks.

Mimi’s Handmade Ice Cream is a locally owned and operated ice cream shop, critically acclaimed by The Post and Bethesda Magazine, and we are SUPER excited to partner with your school for your upcoming fundraising event. We offer an extensive variety of unique flavors (think Ube, Roasted Red Pepper and Mango), as well as everyone’s favorites (Super Oreo, Soo Strawberry and French Vanilla), and look forward to helping raise funds for your PTA/school.

We’ll have our first PTA Meeting of 2024 on February 7 starting at 7pm on Zoom. Mrs. West will share information about our tentative purple day (virtual instruction) plan, the MCPS bus tracker, and a data check-in, time permitting. The meeting will end at 8pm, but we will have an after-meeting Q&A discussion about MCPS middle schools for those who want to stay online.
On February 5, the 2nd and 3rd grade families of BRES are responsible for the bi-monthly Staff Appreciation Luncheon. This is an opportunity for the parents/caregivers to show our love and appreciation for our wonderful BRES staff. The theme for this luncheon is a "Souper Bowl" football theme.
