Kindness Spirit Week at BRES happens Jan 23-27!

January is KINDNESS month at BRES. Mark your calendar for our Spirit Week 1/23/23-1/27/23, where in addition to fun unity days (ie., pajama day) students are also provided with challenges to elevate acts of kindness.. Support the BRES Turkey Trot Nov. 18

Ready, set, go! We’re kicking off the BRES Turkey Trot now through Nov. 18! This fall fun run celebrates our student ‘Fit Foxes,’ while helping support our school as the PTA’s largest fundraiser of the year. Supported by family and friend sponsors, students run as many laps as they can in 15 minutes on Nov. 18, between 1-3:30 p.m. Everyone participates, whether they fundraise or not! Family and friends are invited to come cheer them on.

Sign Up for Free School Meals and help BRES!

Hello BRES Families, 

We have just been informed that BRES needs only 7 more eligible students to sign up for Free and Reduced Meals (FARMS) in order to reach the 40% threshold for additional state funding. When 40% of students at a school sign up for FARMS, the school becomes eligible for extra funds through the Maryland Meals for Achievement Program. The program also allows schools to offer universal free breakfast to every student in class.

When families fill out a FARMS form, they not only benefit their whole school in multiple ways but also get access to numerous other bonuses, like $200 off camps and programs from the recreation department and discounts on MCPS extracurricular activities. 

We encourage families to complete the FARMS application by October 31st to reach that 40% threshold. The Ready For School Initiative is also offering families in Montgomery County a $40 cash school supply reimbursement.

Acabamos de ser informados que BRES necesita solo 7 estudiantes más eligibles para inscribirse en Comidas Gratuitas y Reducidas (FARMS) para alcanzar el limite deseable del 40% para fondos adicionales del estado. Cuando el 40% de los estudiantes de una escuela se inscriben en FARMS, la escuela se convierte en elegible para fondos adicionales a través del Programa  “Comidas de Maryland para el Logro” (Maryland Meals for Achievement). El programa también permite a las escuelas ofrecer desayuno gratuito a todos los estudiantes en clase.

Cuando las familias llenan un formulario FARMS, no solo se benefician  toda la escuela de múltiples maneras, sino que también tienen acceso a muchos otros bonos, como $200 de descuento en campamentos y programas del departamento de recreación y descuentos en actividades extracurriculares de MCPS (Escuelas Publicas del Condado de Montgomery).

BRES Book Fair: We Need Your Help!

This year our goal is to put 1000 books into the hands of our students and teachers. Please help our school meet our goal and inspire a love of reading in our students. Scholastic will give back a portion of the goal as rewards to our school when you shop. This link will show you our progress and other fun information.

This event cannot happen without LOTS of helpers. The Sign-Up Genius for all available shifts is >>>>>HERE<<<<<. We need your help to make this event a success. Please sign up for an hour or two if able. No experience needed! Duties will include helping kids locate books to purchase, assisting with counting money or total purchase price, ringing up at the cash register or organizing. Here’s the schedule of events:

  • Preview Day: Monday Oct 10, 9am-4pm

  • Shopping Days: Tuesday Oct 11-Thursday Oct 13, 9am-4pm

Este año nuestra meta es poner 1000 libros en manos de nuestros estudiantes y maestros. Ayude a nuestra escuela a alcanzar esta meta e inspirar el amor por la lectura en nuestros estudiantes. The PTA Board & Membership are so happy to invite you all to a Back to School Picnic.  Bring your chairs and blankets to set up on the blacktop or fields.  A free magic show will take place approximately 5:30 in the gymnasium. Bounce House Inflatables are provided by Kids After Hours. Rock Creek Church will be selling PIZZA by the slice and cold drinks. Food Trucks on site will include KONA ICE and FIRED UP GRILL. Burgers, Chicken, Hot Dogs, Salads and Sodas are available for purchase.

This event cannot happen with out many helpers. Please consider pitching in for an hour (with or w/o your students!) SIGN UP GENIUS .
